A space for the ritual.
About ThermaCraft
A note from the workshop
We don't sell saunas.
We build rituals in wood.
From a small workshop in Richmond Hill, we draw, joint, and finish saunas for homes across the Greater Toronto Area. No two are alike. Each is shaped to the space it lives in and the person who'll step inside.
i.
On design
Drawn, not assembled
Every project begins on paper. We don't sell kits, configurations, or catalogues.
ii.
On material
Wood that ages well
Western Red Cedar and thermally treated softwoods, chosen for their grain and longevity.
iii.
On place
Rooted in the GTA
Toronto, Vaughan, Markham, Oakville. We know the climate and the building codes.
iv.
On service
One studio, start to finish
Concept, fabrication, install, and the years after. One team, one number to call.
A great sauna isn't a product you buy. It's a ritual you build into your life — and we'd like ours to be worth that commitment.

Services — Sauna Types
What we make
Two starting points,
infinite directions.
We build two kinds of saunas — indoor and outdoor freestanding — and design every detail of each. From the cut of the bench to the stone path that leads to your door, nothing is off the shelf.
No. 01 / Indoor
The indoor sauna
Built into your home — basement, ensuite, primary bath, or a quiet corner you didn't know was waiting. We work with your contractor, or alone.
- Fully bespoke layouts
- Cedar, hemlock, or thermo-wood
- Integrated lighting + controls
- Steam-tight glass + cabinetry
No. 02 / Outdoor
The outdoor sauna
A freestanding structure for the backyard — cabin, barrel, or modern silhouette. Engineered for Canadian winters, finished for the long view.
- Standalone architecture
- All-season insulation
- Roofing, glazing, lighting
- Foundation + utility planning
An extension of the build
We design the space around it, too.
An outdoor sauna shouldn't sit on a patch of dirt. We plan and install the landscape it lives in — stone paths, plunge pools, decking, planting, lighting — so the whole space arrives finished.

Health & Wellness Benefits
A practice, not a luxury
An old habit,
newly understood.
For thousands of years, the sauna was simply how people ended the day. Modern research is catching up to what the Finns already knew — that regular heat exposure changes the body, the mind, and the rhythm of a life.
No. 01
The heart
Regular sauna use is associated with lower blood pressure, improved circulation, and reduced cardiovascular risk over time.
— Per longitudinal studies, Finland
No. 02
The body
Heat increases blood flow to fatigued muscles, easing soreness, supporting recovery, and loosening the small tensions of the day.
— Muscle recovery & circulation
No. 03
The nervous system
Heat exposure shifts the body into a parasympathetic state. The result is something close to what people mean when they say they feel calm.
— Stress regulation
No. 04
The skin
Sweat clears pores, improves skin tone, and supports the body's natural detoxification pathways — the way it was meant to.
— Circulation & skin clarity
No. 05
The sleep
An evening sauna mimics the body's natural pre-sleep cooling cycle, helping you fall asleep faster and stay there longer.
— Thermoregulation & rest
No. 06
The long view
Studies tracking sauna users over decades have linked frequent use to lower all-cause mortality and reduced risk of cognitive decline.

Our Process
How we work
Four steps,
one quiet process.
From the first conversation to the years after install, every project moves through the same considered sequence. No surprises, no upselling — just a clear path from idea to ritual.
-
Step i.
01
The consultation
We visit your space, listen to how you want to live in it, and take precise measurements.
-
Step ii.
02
The design
Tailored plans, material samples, and full 3D renders — so you see the space before we build it.
-
Step iii.
03
The build
Crafted in our Richmond Hill workshop, installed on schedule, with weekly updates throughout.
-
Step iv.
04
The aftercare
A walkthrough, a warranty, and a number to call when something needs adjusting — for years after install.

Frequently Asked Questions
Asked & answered
The things people
quietly wonder.
Most projects start with the same handful of questions. Here are the honest answers — and what we'd want to know if we were on your side of the conversation.
No. 01
How much does a custom sauna cost?
Indoor builds typically start in the mid-five-figures and scale with size, materials, and integration complexity. Outdoor standalone projects start higher — the structure itself is a building, plus foundation, utilities, and (often) landscaping. Every project receives a fixed quote after the consultation, with no surprises after that.
No. 02
How long does the whole process take?
From first call to first steam, roughly two to three months for indoor builds, and three to five for outdoor projects involving permits and landscaping. Detailed timelines are part of every quote.
No. 03
Do I need a permit?
For outdoor saunas, almost always — and we handle the application process as part of the build. For indoor saunas, requirements vary by municipality. We'll confirm during consultation and take care of any necessary filings.
No. 04
What's the difference between traditional and infrared?
Traditional saunas use a heater and stones to warm the air, producing a higher-temperature, more immersive experience — the kind the Finns have practiced for centuries. Infrared cabins heat the body more directly at lower air temperatures. We build traditional. If you're looking for infrared, we can point you elsewhere.
No. 05
Can you fit a sauna into a small space?
Often, yes. We've built two-person saunas into closets, ensuites, and nooks under stairs. The minimum usable footprint is about 4 × 4 feet. If the space exists, it usually has potential.
No. 06
How much maintenance is required?
Less than people expect. Regular use, a soft brush-down after each session, and a thorough cleaning a few times a year. The wood ages beautifully on its own. We provide a care guide with every install.
No. 07
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes — a multi-year warranty on workmanship and structure, plus manufacturer warranties on heater units and electronics. We also remain available for adjustments, repairs, and questions for years after install. A real number, a real person.
Have a question we haven't answered? Ask us directly — we'd rather have the conversation.

Client Testimonials
A few kind notes
From the people
who step inside.
Every project ends with a walkthrough, and most end with a longer note than we expected. A handful of the kinder ones below, shared with permission.
Forest Hill / Indoor ensuite
It's the room we didn't know we were waiting for. Six months in, and we use it almost every night — it's changed how the day ends.
Sarah M. · Toronto, ON
No. 02 / King City
The level of attention to detail is unlike anything we've worked with. Every choice felt considered — every joint, every grain.
Mark & Jenna L. · King City, ON
No. 03 / Oakville
They handled the permit, the foundation, and the entire landscape design. We came home one day to a finished retreat.
David R. · Oakville, ON
No. 04 / Rosedale
Honest pricing, honest timelines, and a build that came in exactly as promised. Rare, in our experience with contractors.
Priya S. · Toronto, ON
No. 05 / Vaughan
A year later and they still pick up when we call. That's the part you don't realize you need until you need it.
The Chen Family · Vaughan, ON
